With his three cohorts and a dozen mistrusting guards at his side, Reev and the bearers head into the Taverron Caves to destroy the magical creature. But they soon discover that the beast is their next quest and in fact is no monster at all. While the youths struggle to complete the task at hand, the Vassor of Paysley Dawn discovers Estra's true identity, deciding to turn her over to lord Draeden Sifferus.
