Review & Description

Universal Orlando Resort has a reputation for cutting-edge attractions and entertainment. Inside its two theme parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, your family will experience the latest in ride technology.

You’ll love Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Shrek 4-D, The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Men In Black: Alien Attack, and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. Many of the rides at Universal Orlando Resort combine 3-D film with live action and special effects. You’re going to have a great time. Use this guide, written specifically for 8-12 year-olds, to plan your vacation and make a list of the things you want to see first!

Both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are covered in this book.

Click around throughout these pages for Universal fun facts, trivia, and links to more information about the rides, shows, and characters you’ll see inside the theme parks. CityWalk and the three Universal resort hotels are also covered. Finally, take note of some useful symbols. These will appear throughout the book as attractions are mentioned.

S = Scary
D = Dark
A = Awesome: don’t miss this attraction
T = Thrilling: think roller coasters
W = Wet: you might get soaked

Want to meet some characters? No problem. Look for information throughout this book on where to find them in Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. A summary of the top character hang-outs is included at the end of each theme park section.

Sometimes you only have one day (or less) to see everything a park has to offer. The tips page at the end of each theme park section gives you a plan for seeing as many top attractions in the shortest amount of time possible. Keep in mind these plans are ambitious. You might need to take some breaks during the day to give your parents a rest!

Many Universal Orlando Resort attractions have height requirements. When this is the case, there will be a number after the ride listing that looks like this: 40”. That means you have to be at least 40 inches tall to ride. Many of the attractions require riders who are less than 48 inches tall to ride with an adult.

Are you hungry? Of course you are. Running around the theme parks takes a lot of energy, and that requires a lot of snacks. At the end of each section, look for a short description of the restaurants and food available in that part of the theme park.

Universal Orlando Resort 2012: A Planet Explorers Travel Guide for Kids is the only guidebook you'll need to plan a great trip. Have fun!
